Maskne (mask related acne) tips:
1. Cleanse your face twice a day (morning and night) with a cleanser that fits your skin tone. Also, cleanse after sweating or exercising. Do not wash your face with bar soap or Dr. Bronner’s. Those types of soaps strip oils from the skin. Skin oils are actually protective and keep bacteria out of your pores! 2. Exfoliate your face 2-3 times a week after cleansing. Exfoliating helps clear dead skin and debris from building in your pores. I have sensitive skin so I’m not a huge fan of “scrubby” cleansers. I like enzyme cleansers. If you choose a “scrubby” cleanser make sure is has uniform particle size “scrubbers”. If the scrubbers are too abrasive they can cause micro tears in your skin and bacteria can grow in there. 3. Use a light weight moisturizer under your mask. This will keep the skin protected from bacteria and excessive dryness around the mask. 4. Make sure you are peeing and pooping regularly. Meaning drinking enough water and eating enough fiber. If our body can’t eliminate toxins from the body the toxins will be secreted thru the skin. These toxins that are secreted thru the our skin can exacerbate maskne. 5. If you use a reusable cloth mask make sure to wash it frequently. For information purposes only.
